The thematic background of the 2025 China Dragon Silver Bullion Coin
1st Jun 2025
In recent years, the sales volume of mainstream international bullion silver coins has steadily increased, indicating expanding future market potential. To proactively respond to international market shifts and enhance the global market share and influence of China's precious metal commemorative coins, the People's Bank of China has initiated and issued the China Dragon Silver Bullion Coin for the first time. This aims to create a novel bullion silver coin variety featuring distinct Chinese characteristics, profound cultural connotations, and alignment with international aesthetic trends. It will complement the Panda Bullion Silver Coin series, jointly fulfilling the increasingly diverse investment demands of consumers both domestically and internationally, while promoting the international dissemination and exchange of Chinese culture.1
The China Dragon Silver Coin project adopts bullion quality specifications. Each coin has a weight of 31.104 grams (1 troy ounce), adhering to China's regulatory requirements for precious metal coin measurement units while simultaneously aligning with international standards. This design proactively benchmarks against similar international products, better meets global market demand for bullion silver coins, and enriches the variety of China's precious metal commemorative coins supplied to the international market.1 The obverse design features the Great Wall of China, a representative national landmark. The reverse design showcases the Chinese Dragon, the totemic symbol of the Chinese nation. This iconography not only symbolizes the resilient spirit and progressive drive of the Chinese people throughout history but also embodies the steadfast resolve and aspirations for advancing the nation's rejuvenation in the new era. It represents an expression of cultural confidence in China.
